When most people think of fashion, the first thing that comes to mind is boutique clothing stores, fashion design, and fancy outfits. But fashion is about so much more than what we put on our bodies. It's a multi-billion-dollar industry impacting media, art, and culture. When you think of the 90s, what do you see in your mind’s eye? People dressed in 90s clothes, right? In the movies, we showcase a specific era with specifically dressed people. In a way, fashion is part of the historical reference we can look back at. It shows what was available, what people chose to be popular, and what the masses adopted.

The fashion industry is a very artistic, creative, and merchandise-rich business. This means many people collaborate to create clothing and accessories. Then, the merch gets to be introduced to the public through marketing and media and sold through retail and the internet.

We all like to look good, it makes us feel good, so we all participate. Try this experiment, please. No matter what you’re wearing and how you feel, put on your most fashionable and expansive outfit. And observe how your feelings will change. How you feel and how you carry yourself will be different.

People love fashion. They feel that the way they dress reflects their personality, social status, and prestige.

A friend of mine told me that he is going in for a meeting with a few executives for possible consideration of a quarter-million-dollar consulting gig. So, when we connected on facetime with my friend, I asked him to put on what he would wear on Monday. He put on his best suit to show me. “Did you buy this suit in the 80s?” I asked him. “92.” He said. I told him that the man in that room would be wearing at least $1000 suits purchased this year, and soon as he entered the room, he would be judged by his outdated appearance. There goes your first impression. My friend who’s from New York got it immediately. My friend said. “I’ve been so busy working that I haven’t shopped for a suit in 20 years.” You can’t do that ever.

You have to look the part, know it, act it, and be amazing at it. Just be the part! Stop second-guessing yourself. Get a new outfit put it on, and slay!

Be open-minded about different materials, colors, and shapes when experimenting and see what sparks a fresh new look for you.

Get feedback from others - It's always helpful to get feedback from people who are familiar with the industry and know what they're talking about regarding fashion. Ask them for honest opinions about your choices.
